Exercises in Knitting by Cornelia Mee, 1846
Monday, December 1st, 2008Welcome to Exercises in Knitting
This site has all of the original fifty-four knitting patterns from Cornelia Mee’s 1846 book, Exercises in Knitting
The first twelve patterns are labeled as chair covers; however, the author suggests that the stitch pattern can also be applied to such items as doilies or shawls; or, anything else you may think of!
Patterns thirteen through fifty-four are for a variety of items such as baby bonnets, shawls, comforters, bags, etc.
You will find all of these receipts (I love that they were called this! Also love that knitting needles were called pins!) on the Vintage Patterns Index/Table of Contents page.
